Sinopsis

Seorang agen imigrasi dan kepabean, Max Brogan (Harrison Ford) selalu bersimpati pada imigran gelap dan yang kemudian dideportasi. Max bertugas bersama rekan kerjanya, Hamid (Cliff Curtis) keturunan Iran-Amerika. Saat keduanya melakukan tugas rutin kepada para immigran gelap. Disisi lain dikisahkan tentang seorang pengacara (Ashley Judd) sedang membantu sebuah keluarga mengadopsi seorang anak yatim piatu dan juga menangani proses deportasi satu keluarga dimana anak mereka yang berusia 15 tahun dituduh terkait dengan teroris yaitu seorang pemuda Yahudi (Jim Sturgess) yang mencoba menyelamatkan pekerjaannya. Selain itu dikisahkan pula Cole Frankel (Ray Liotta) menggunakan jabatannya sebagai pengawas persetujuan "green card" untuk membantu seorang model cantik asal Australia (Alice Eve) untuk menduduki beberapa jabatan penting di Amerika.

Synopsis

Immigrants from around the world enter Los Angeles every day, with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers. In "Crossing Over," writer-director Wayne Kramer explores the allure of the American dream, and the reality that immigrants find - and create -- in 21st century L.A.

Kramer's ("The Cooler") intersecting stories, both cathartic and tragic, are brought to life by an international ensemble. The film stars Academy Award® nominee Harrison Ford, Academy Award® winner Sean Penn, Ray Liotta ("Good Fellas") Ashley Judd ("Double Jeopardy"), Cliff Curtis ("Whale Rider"), Jim Sturgess ("Across the Universe"), Alice Eve ("Starter for Ten"), Alice Braga ("City of God"), Justin Chon ("Gary the Tennis Coach") and Summer Bishil ("Nothing is Private").
