Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) selalu terlihat berbeda dengan gadis lainnya. Ia tidak pernah bergaul dengan teman sekolahnya yang bergaya trendy. Kejadian itu dimulai saat ibunya menikah lagi dan mengirim Bella untuk tinggal bersama Ayahnya di kota kecil Forks, Washington. Dan pada saat itulah ia tidak berharap banyak perubahan dalam dirinya. Hingga akhirnya ia bertemu dengan Edward Cullen (Robert Pattison) yang misterius dan tampan. Edward bukanlah pria pada umumnya. Ternyata Edward adalah Vampir tetapi tidak memiliki taring dan bersama keluarganya, Edward memilih untuk tidak mengisap darah manusia.
Akhirnya mereka berdua menjadi sepasang kekasih. Bagi Edward, Bella adalah gadis yang ia tunggu selama 90 tahun sebagai bagian dari belahan jiwanya. Namun semakin dekat hubungan mereka semakin berat usaha Edward untuk mengontrol dirinya. Apalagi ketika sekelompok vampir baru lainnya yaitu James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) dan Victoria (Rachelle Lafevre) yang muncul dan mengancam hidup mereka?
